Privacy and local storage
There are no ads on this site and no user accounts. You cannot sign up, so there is nothing about you for us to hold. Cookies are written only if you agree to measurement, and you can say no.
What is stored, and where
Four things are kept in your browser’s localStorage. They stay on your device, are never sent to a server, and never reach us:
| Key | What is stored | Why |
|---|---|---|
| luach.city | The town you chose | So the site opens on it next time |
| luach.household | Friday-mode settings — number of children, cooking time, walk to shul, and your checklist | To build your personal timeline |
| luach.a11y | Your accessibility preferences | To keep them between pages |
| luach.consent | Whether you agreed to Google Analytics | So you are not asked again |
You can delete all of it whenever you like — clearing site data in your browser removes every key, and the site simply starts over.
Measurement
If you choose “no measurement”, nothing about your visit is collected. There is no fallback analytics running quietly in the background.
Google Analytics runs only if you agree. It does use cookies, so it is held off by default — Consent Mode set to denied — and loads only after you accept. Your IP address is masked, and advertising and personalisation signals are switched off permanently. Decline and the script is never loaded at all. There are no social-network pixels and no tag manager.
The website widget
If you embed the widget, each load records one line on our server: the host name of the site it was embedded on, the community requested, and whether we recognised it. That is how we know which communities the widget is serving. It records nothing about the person viewing your page — no IP address is stored, no cookie is set, and the widget sets nothing in their browser.
Location
If you use “find my location”, your browser asks your permission first. The location is used only to find the nearest town, immediately and inside the browser, and is not sent anywhere.
